This exceptional coffee was grown by 37 producers from the Marcala region of Honduras. The producers have been specially selected to participate in a quality improvement program run by Mercanta’s exporting partner for the lot.
By working together, focusing on stringent processing and cultivation methods, and constantly striving for better coffee (and better prices), the program is transforming livelihoods in rural areas.
After picking and sorting, coffee is fermented for between 8 to 12 hours until the mucilage is completely depleted. After this, the coffee is washed in clean water.
